Money Money
02:35
|
|||
Flipped suit, cell phone piece
Got the goods, runs so fast
Up the ladders down the streets
Your fuzzy little head is quite the beast
Bloody knuckles, no fingerprints
Coyote got into the chicken coop
Run for cover in the black
Electric eyes, quick attack
Meet at the lake where it all goes south
Bottom full of bones no one knows about
They don’t know, they don’t know, they don’t know
Money money here, money money there
Crawling off the wind, tousling my hair
First grade detective
Gotta get a little dirty to make a buck
Never the intention but green is sticky
When you’re in a rough patch, you don’t get picky
Everyone’s a liar, everyone’s a cheat
I’m cheating on you, but you can’t see
You don’t know, you don’t know, you don’t know
Money money here, money money there
Clawin’ at the dirt ‘cuz I want a share
I’m always in a rut, when it comes to life, when it comes to love
Besides, I don’t like to lose, I’ve been losing for such a long time
Mr. Hot Shot got shot in the head
Someone took the cash, I stashed the cash
I lie low, keep my head down
When it all blows over I’ll skip town
Gone like smoke, you never even knew
You’re at the bottom of the lake, no one will find you
They don’t know, they don’t know, they don’t know
Money money here, money money there
In the drink I drink, in the clothes I wear.

Forget Me Not
03:24
|
|||
You are a dead lawn of grass
A wicked snake that’s red and black
A fire starting in the dark
While children sleep, the thing that sparked
You are like a drop of blood
A brewing cloud, a lake of mud
A tired old decrepit soul
That found the mine, robbed of gold
Chorus
You are my forget-me-not
The one who tried to mess me up
You I cannot trust at all
But I hope you change, don’t change for me
You are smoke from cigarettes
A dream that fell and broke it’s neck
An aging cell, a dirty grey
A person who’s left debts unpaid
A bomb, a bomb, a mess of guts
Crooked streets and roads of ruts
A floor that creaks in a house that moans
The wretched stench of graveyard bones
Bridge
I have got a golden ticket here
You can take the train, get the hell out of here
You are drops of acid rain
Upon the crops meant to sustain
When you come back, I hope you do
You’ll be better, something new
You were like a drop of blood
You were like a lake of mud
If you wake up your tired soul
You’ll find the mine, find the gold.

Dream Street
04:14
|
|||
I’m going to dream, I’m going to dream street
I said, I’m going to dream street, be a star
Somehow I’ll get there, somehow I’ll get there
But my daddy don’t like it when I wish too far
He says I don’t got the means, but I got the heart
And I traded all I own for a busted up guitar
I’m going to play it so hard
I got a mother, I got a mother
I got a mother in the ground
Sometimes I see her, see her
But my daddy don’t like it when I wish too far
He says I don’t got the means, but I got the heart
And I traded all I own for a busted up guitar
I’m going to play it so hard
I go to work but my father takes the pay
He’s upset with his life takes it out on me
Sometimes I cry at night but I get strong in the daylight
But my daddy don’t like it when I wish too far
He says I don’t got the means, but I got the heart
And I traded all I own for a busted up guitar
I’m going to play it so hard
You with your feet on the ground
Well I’ve got one foot on a cloud
And my daddy don’t like it when I wish too far
He says I don’t got the means, but I got the heart
And I traded all I own for a busted up guitar
I’m going to play it so hard.

The Cove
03:09
|

Sudden changes, always change things
Just roll with them, keep on living
Die, die, die
They get off on making profit
But I don’t need what they’re selling, I don’t want it
Die, die, die – die, die, die
In my life now, I wanna just go back,
Before it started, before I started losing track
What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?
What’s going on, they say it’s business
But it’s not pretty to think I might have caused this
All this die, die, die
So I’m protesting, I’m packing punches
They say I’m crazy – at least I’m not gutless
Screaming die, die, die – die, die, die
In my life now, I wanna just go back
Before it started, before I started losing track
What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?
Blood, blood in the water stains deep on the shore
Dive in collect the bodies then go out and get some more
Blood, blood in the water stains deep on the shore
Dive in collect the bodies
Dive, dive, dive, dive, dive, dive!
In my life now, I wanna just go back
Before it started, before I started losing track
What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?
Sudden changes, I will change things
Won’t roll with them or keep on living
Or else it’s die, die, die – die, die, die.

John & the Monster
04:46
|
|||
It says, “I like you very much, very much so”
John says, “I wanna touch your skin because it glows”
John’s hand is trembling as he reaches out
‘Cuz the creature in the lake was born of doubt
And John, who’s young, was told he’s going to die
The tumor in his head will douse the lights
But the creature takes John in it’s arms
Says, “Don’t weep, I’ll keep you safe from harm”
John says good night, goes home and then to bed
But as he sleeps the cancer leaves his head
From the monster’s touch, John’s been cured
And full of life he happily tells the world
And in a flash reporters swarm from everywhere
They catch the beast and now the lake is bare
John aches for what he has caused
And his heart feels swollen and raw
And in the largest world museum on display
The monster’s skin grows duller everyday
People flock to touch and heal and pray
But they learn, it doesn’t work that way
And John discovers what he must do
So late at night he frees it from that tomb
And he tells the creature, “It’s alright”
And holds it, until its skin grows bright
Says I like you very much, very much so
And I wanna touch your skin because it glows
John’s hand is trembling as he says goodbye
And as he sleeps, he breathes out one last time.

Crash, crash, my heart just stopped working
Splat, splat, I fell all the way down the stairs
“Hi, hi, my name is Samuel Starr
It was written on this piece of rock
And shoved into the ground”
“Hi, Hi, hello Samuel Starr
My name is Joe Jasper Cloverwood
Splash, splash, I was diving in the sea
I caught a leak in my oxygen, and I couldn’t breathe”
Chorus
Have you realized, our souls are here?
We’re living, we’re thinking
We’re supposed to be dead
But I’m happy I’m talking to you
“Oh Joe, my wife, married some no good man”
“I hear ya, Mr. Starr, I don’t think I understand”
“Well Joe, I thought, we could help each other out
We’ll get up outta this graveyard and freak the bastard out”
“OK, I’m down, but while we leave our graves
My girl, my girl is all alone and being brave
Mr. Starr, if you could, just help me make her smile
I could go back to sleep knowing I’d see her in awhile”
Chorus
“Hey, hey, it’s done now Samuel Starr
It’s a blessing that I’m buried beside where you are”
“Yeah Joe, it’s true, I feel the same way
I’m glad we got a chance to meet before we died again”.

Cannonball Sam never came back, never came back
Deep down there in the black, the blanket of black
Oh we watched him go, sink low low
Where it gets cold, so cold
Cannonball Sam never came back, never came back
Late last night in the brig, in the brig where he laid
Sam said, “cabin boy should I be afraid?”
Oh I looked him in the eye, in the brig where he laid
Winked and said, “Yeah, be afraid”
“Sam if I was you, I’d be shaking”
Chorus Sam’s fate is locked beneath this body of water
Maybe he will find a better life, beyond there
Sam was calm when the dawn light hit the sea
On the edge of the plank with a cannonball around his feet
Oh he didn’t say a word, took a deep breath
Pushed off the edge into the depths
Cannonball Sam never came back, never came back
Chorus
I’m sittin’ here in the last lifeboat
Got an old ship’s log and the Captain’s compass
And my momma does love me, my pappa is proud
Because I’ve always been smart, yeah I’ve always been keen
Talked the cabin boy into giving me the key
My name is Cannonball Sam and I’m sure as hell now free
Cannonball Sam never came back, never came back
Deep down there in the black, black, black
Oh we watched him go, but he came up slow
Cut loose a boat and rowed, rowed, rowed
He never came back, never came back, never came back
Never came back, never came back never came back
Never came back, never came back, never came back.

Snap Crack
03:54
|
|||
Snap, crack!
You got it bad, you got the groove back
Toby said, “You’re gone, but you ain’t missin’ son
I can hear ya, from all the way down the street”
They’re singing, “Doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah
You got the beat, you got the beat”
Hey master
I got a song or two
I can get crazy
You know the lights and sounds amaze me
Come on down, have a drink and take a seat
They’ll be singing, “Doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah
You got the beat, you got the beat”
Lay low
You wanna make ‘em feel it deep in their souls
Take your time, cuz this is the place to get messy
Crank it up, you wanna make em’ burn in the heat
So that they’re singing, “Doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah
You got the beat, you got the beat”
Ahhh, Doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah
You got the beat, you got the beat
Doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah, doo-wah
You got the beat, you got the beat
Doo-wah, doo-wah
You got the beat, you got the beat
Ahhh.

Back On The Hill
03:58
|

Back on the hill, my fortune turned rust
And I stood till I aged into dust
I am down in a place, where I’m always cold
And love has a face, for riches I sold
I never loved you better till you left
I never wanted you before like this
Back on the hill, my castle turned rust
And I stood till no one I could trust
And my body was dense; I swallowed diamonds and bones
I couldn’t keep you and kiss with a mouth full of stones
I never loved you better till you left
I never wanted you before like this
Back on the hill, back on the hill, back on the hill
Back on the hill, back on the hill
Back on the hill, my fortune turned rust
And I stood till I aged into dust
I am down in a place, where I’m always cold
And your beautiful face for riches I sold
I never loved you better till you left
I never wanted you before like this
I never loved you better till you left
I never loved you better till you left
I never loved you better till you left
I never loved you.

A kite in the wind held back by a string
If you cut that rope you could be anything
Oh, the world, the world
Oh, the world, the thought occurred to me
Every night my mom would lay down with me
Tell me things I could do, things I could be
Oh, the world, the world
Oh, the world, she yawned and said to me
Hate to wake you
But the night is young, you’re so young
Don’t give up on her so soon ‘cuz she’s not finished yet
The child on the street had worn out shoes
But she acted as if there was nothing to loose
Oh, the world, the world
Oh, the world, she smiled and sang to me
Hate to wake you
But the night is young, you’re so young
Don’t give up on her so soon ‘cuz she’s not finished yet.
